While some of you are already familiar with this awesome event in our sister city to the north, we wanted to be sure to spread the word about Urban Craft Uprising. UCU is Seattle’s largest indie craft show and is held twice a year at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Kristen and Lindsey are the ladies behind the show (kind of the Torie and Cathy of Seattle!) and we are excited to work with them to help cross promote our shows to vendors since Seattle and Portland are just a short drive from each other. If you have never sold at an out of town show, this is a great opportunity to give it a try while not straying too far from home!

Urban Craft Uprising is now accepting applications for their summer show (July 7th & 8th) but you need to act fast – the deadline is April 13th! We have personally sold at this show and have seen first hand how the hardcore Seattle shoppers support their handmade goods! Last summer UCU had over 6,000 excited shoppers attend over two days and they expect that number to be even higher for this year’s show.

Now in its eighth year, UCU offers shoppers a wide variety of hand-crafted goods, including clothing, jewelry, gifts, bags, wallets, buttons, accessories, aprons, children’s goods, toys, housewares, paper goods, candles, kits, art, food, and much, much more. It’s a great event with a great following and we hope you’ll consider applying!

We can’t wait to officially welcome you into our new home! We spent the last 16 months in a temporary situation but were always wishing and dreaming of a permanent location for the Crafty Wonderland retail shop! Well, our dreams have come true and we have officially signed a 3 year lease for the space one door up SW 10th from our previous corner location! It’s bigger and prettier and we couldn’t be more thrilled! This Saturday we will be celebrating the occasion with coffee, doughnuts and discounts! We hope you can come down to check out our fancy new digs and to join the festivities!

This coming Sunday, February 12th from 2pm – 4pm we are celebrating Valentine’s Day a little early with an opening reception for Juanita’s amazing velvet paintings and delicious sweets tastings from three talented local confectioners. Neapolitan Chocolate & Co. , Confectionery and Rose City Sweets will each have a delicious selection of treats to sample and buy!

We hope you can join us this Sunday! This will be our last party in our current space – we’re moving next door shortly after Valentine’s Day (just one door up the street to 808 SW 10th). Stay tuned for more exciting details!

Please read all of the info on the apply page if you are interested in applying to the show. And be sure to sign up for our mailing list (if you haven’t already) so you can be notified when applications go online. (You can sign up on the right hand side of our website where it says, “Sign up for our newsletter.”)

We all have one in our family photo album…an awkward holiday photo from the past…maybe you’re wearing that sweatshirt that aunt Betty embellished with puff paint or maybe you are posing with your pet monkey! Our Wacky Holiday Photo Booth was a HUGE hit last year and we are bringing it back for another run! We will have a cool holiday themed back drop for you to pose in front of as well as some fun props to wear, hold and get wacky with. Feel free to bring your own props to personalize your photo! You can get a printed copy for $5 or just download it later for $3!

The best part about the Wacky Holiday Photo Booth is that a portion of the proceeds go to a GREAT cause! You may know Sarah Barth, one of our beloved Crafty Wonderland shop employees. She has worked at the shop since the beginning and sells her jewelry and terrariums with us. Over the summer Sarah was diagnosed with cancer. She has already had several surgeries and is currently undergoing treatment. Sarah does not have health insurance and has had to miss quite a bit of work during the process. As you might guess, her medical bills are huge. We adore her and want to help alleviate the burden of these bills so that she can work on recovering and getting healthy again. Not only will a portion of the photo booth fees go to help Sarah, but we are donating 100% of our store profits on Sunday to her. This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to do your last minute shopping, get yourself a wacky holiday photo AND help one of the most amazing ladies we know! We hope you will join us!
